Skip to content Version 2, 11 October 2026. This policy explains which personal data we use when you visit throttletrails.com, send a request or make a first payment, and what your rights are.
Throttle Trails is a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak) based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 92337538. We are the controller of the personal data described here. You can reach us at info@throttletrails.com or through our contact page.
Account and login. Your name, e-mail address and, if you set one, a password. We use it to give you access to My Bookings and to send you sign-in links. Basis: it is necessary to provide the service you ask for.
Your request and booking. Your name, e-mail address, phone number, country, the tour, dates, number of riders, options, and what you write in your request or in messages to us. We use it to send your request to the operator and to handle the booking. Basis: it is necessary to take steps at your request and to perform our agreement with you.
Your first payment. The amount, the date, the status and a payment reference. Your card or bank details are handled by our payment provider. We do not store them. We keep payment records because the law requires an administration. Basis: performing our agreement and a legal obligation.
Messages about your request. We send you e-mails about your request, payment and tour, and show the same status in My Bookings. Basis: performing our agreement.
Reviews. After your first payment, Trustpilot may send you an invitation to review our service. For that, we share your e-mail address with Trustpilot. We may also invite you to review your tour. Basis: our legitimate interest in collecting honest reviews. You can object at any time (see section 9).
Creator links and codes. If you arrive through a creator's link or code, we store the code and the date for up to 30 days, so the creator can be credited if you book. We store it in a cookie called tt_ref, and only if you accept marketing cookies. If you do not accept them, the link counts for that visit only. You can always type a creator code in the request form, which works without a cookie. The code does not contain other personal data and is not shared with third parties.
Using the website. Technical data such as your IP address, browser type, device and the pages you visit, so the site works, is secure and can be improved. With your consent for statistics cookies we use Google Analytics and Hotjar to see how the site is used. With your consent for marketing cookies we use the Meta pixel. Our chat assistant, run by Chatbase, only loads if you accept preferences cookies, and what you type in the chat is processed by Chatbase to answer you. Basis: our legitimate interest, or your consent where a cookie or similar technology needs it.
Newsletter. Your e-mail address and name, if you sign up. Basis: your consent. We use Mailchimp to send the newsletter. You can unsubscribe at any time with the link in each mail.
Contact. What you send us through the contact page, by e-mail or by WhatsApp, so we can answer you. The WhatsApp button opens WhatsApp, which is run by Meta. Nothing is sent to WhatsApp until you click it. Basis: our legitimate interest and, if you have a booking, performing our agreement.
Forms. When you send a form, we also store the pages of our site you visited before you sent it, so we can see where a request came from. Basis: our legitimate interest.
Saved tours. If you are signed in and save a tour with the heart, we store the tour in your account so you can find it again in My Account. Basis: it is necessary to provide the service you ask for.
Creators. If you apply to our creator network, we store your name, e-mail address, the details in your application, your code and the data we need to pay you. We make payouts by hand, through Wise. Basis: performing our agreement with you and a legal obligation.
Operators. For the contact person of an operator we store name, e-mail address, phone number and the business details the operator gives us, so we can send requests and arrange the booking. Basis: performing our agreement and our legitimate interest.
Please do not send us sensitive data, such as health information or passport details. If a tour needs them, the operator asks you directly.
Operators run tours all over the world. When you book a tour outside the European Economic Area, we share your data with an operator in a country that may not offer the same protection as the EU. We do this because it is necessary to perform the agreement you ask for. For other providers outside the European Economic Area we rely on an EU adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses, where the provider offers them.
These are the periods we aim to keep to. After that we delete the data or make it anonymous.
We protect your data with appropriate technical and organisational measures, such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to personal data, and a payment provider that handles card details. No system is completely secure. If a data breach puts your rights at risk, we tell the Dutch Data Protection Authority and, where required, you.
We do not take decisions about you based only on automated processing, and we do not profile you. Our site and our services are for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
You have the right to access your data, correct it, have it removed, restrict its use, receive it in a portable form, and object to its use based on our legitimate interest. Where we use your data based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing does not affect what we did before.
Use Account Settings to ask for a copy of your data or for removal of your account. We confirm your request by e-mail and handle it by hand, so that your booking requests are included. You can also e-mail info@throttletrails.com. We reply within one month. We may need to confirm who you are first. Some data we must keep, for example payment records, as set out in section 5.
If you are not satisfied, contact us first. You can also complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) or to the authority in the country where you live.
Our site may link to other sites. They have their own privacy policies and we are not responsible for them.
We can change this policy. The current version is always on this page, with its version number and date. If we change how we use your data in an important way, we tell you in advance, for example by e-mail.
